Exodus 15:2 – “The Lord is my strength and my son; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him – my father’s God, and I will exalt him!”

Everyone experiences difficulty throughout their lifetime. It is during these times that we become stronger and more secure in our faith. Life can present a variety of difficult issues that suddenly appear and cause you stress, worry and anxiety. People will tell you when they have a problem in life they often consume their thoughts with worry. This stress has a negative effect in all areas of their life. It is essential to read scripture that is empowering, comforting and supportive.

Focusing on your faith during difficult times in life will help you keep a positive outlook on the situation. In addition, the following coping tips can help guide you through the situation.

  • Talk about it – Speak to your family, friends or church family regarding the issues you are experiencing. Having a person listen to your problems can help you better understand the situation and find solutions quickly.
  • Look beyond the hardship – Sometimes we make situations appear worse than they are. Getting caught up in emotions and fear can make a small issue larger than it needs to be. Try to look past the hardship and focus on the future.
  • Ask for help – People often become isolated because they are ashamed of their problems. Contacting people you trust and asking for help will give you a support system that will help you get through the difficult issue.

Isaiah 26: 3-4 – “Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace – because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God you have an everlasting rock.”

Trusting in the Lord that everything will work out for the best and at the right time is essential to powering through difficult times. How many times in your life have you thought you had a serious problem only to find out at the end it was one of the best things that ever happened to you? Difficult situations such as ending a marriage, moving and losing a job might seem awful while you live through it. But, then you realize that you feel happier being away from a negative marriage, in a smaller house or at a new job. You have to trust in the Lord that everything is happening for a reason and is meant to bring you to a better place in life.

Psalm 32: 7-8 – “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”
